AFSCME Local 328 Navigators
Role Description
PURPOSE:
The role of the Local 328 Navigator is to facilitate the flow of Local 328 information among our union members and leaders and to serve as a Local 328 Compass in a work unit or on a shift within a work unit; pointing members toward union resources. This role is much more comprehensive and is designed to replace our current union contact role and does not have any responsibility for problem or conflict resolution.
The Local 328 Navigator will receive a comprehensive inventory of Local 328 resources and communications, which will be updated frequently. The Local 328 navigator will also receive leadership briefings on important Local 328 issues and will serve as the Local 328 Leadership’s “go to’s” when we need feedback and advice on important issues.
It is our goal to recruit and equip one Navigator for every fifteen members. We recognize that this ratio will only be achieved through time.
LOCAL 328 NAVIGATOR ROLES:
Communication and Information
- Distribute flyers and newsletters in his/her immediate workplace
- Receive and post Local 328 Posters in his/her immediate workplace
- Gather and share feedback
- To and from Bargaining, Sector and Executive-Board Sector Leaders
Expectations - Distribute, Post and discuss Local 328 communications in your immediate work area in a timely manner
- Elicit feedback from your co-workers and provide that information to Local 328 Elected Leaders and Staff
- Provide your feedback to Local 328 Leaders and Staff on critical issues upon request
Opportunities - Attend Annual Local 328 Navigator Leadership Training
- Assist yourself and your coworkers in making OHSU a better place to work
